threeds Privacy Policy
Effective: October 24, 2026
threeds is a game player for your own game backups. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The developer (Sean Staggs) does not collect, receive or store any information about you or your games.
This page explains what the app does on your device, and the few times it talks to anything else.
What stays on your device
- Your games, saves and settings. Games you add, your save files and save states, your library layout (folders, order, play times), your settings and any pictures you choose are stored in the app's own storage on your device. They are not sent to the developer.
- Your profile. A nickname, birthday and favourite colour can be set in Settings. They are kept on your device and passed only to the games you play, the way a console's own profile is.
- Bluetooth. The app can use Bluetooth to connect game controllers. It does not scan for or talk to anything else, and nothing about your Bluetooth devices is stored or sent anywhere.
- Motion, camera and microphone. Some games read the motion sensors (for tilt and turn controls), the microphone (for voice and blowing) or a camera. This is processed on your device while a game runs and is never recorded or sent anywhere. You can say no to any of these and the app still works.
- Diagnostics. If you turn on Show Diagnostics, the app shows speed and layout readings on screen and keeps a small text file of motion readings in its storage. It stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
iCloud (optional)
If you turn on iCloud Sync, the app keeps your games, saves, save states, system files and library details in the app's folder in your own iCloud Drive, so they match on all your devices. This is stored in your Apple account. The developer cannot see it. You can turn it off at any time and remove the files from iCloud Drive in the Files app.
Game Center (optional)
threeds can show your Game Center friends on the home screen. It asks your permission first. Their names and pictures are shown on your device and are not stored or sent anywhere else.
When the app connects to something
- GameTDB (only when you use Match Game). To show a game's proper title and cover pictures, the app downloads GameTDB's public list of games, and asks for a cover by the game's four-letter code. GameTDB (gametdb.com) can see your IP address and the code, as any website would. Nothing else about you or your device is sent. GameTDB's own policy applies to what it does with that. The app does nothing until you open Match Game, and later shows pictures you already chose without asking you again.
- Your own console (only when you use Play from Your 3DS). The app opens a connection over your local Wi-Fi to a console you own, to read a game from it as you play. iOS asks permission for local network access first. Nothing leaves your network.
- Apple. If you install through the App Store or TestFlight, Apple may give the developer crash reports and usage totals if you have chosen to share them in your device settings. These do not identify you.
The app does not use advertising identifiers and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Games and system files
threeds does not include, download or share any games, BIOS, firmware or encryption keys. You add backups of games you own, and system files dumped from your own console, yourself.
Children
threeds is a general-purpose app that does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
